Teeth with Braces: Is it normal go u not able to bite with ur back teeth with braces?

Can someone help me about braces and expanders?
I have braces and my next appointment is on March 6th. I was told-on December 10th-that when they were putting in the braces, I was also going to be getting a palatal expander. I have brackets on every tooth, except for the last two teeth, along with the archwire. Now, my question is: how can you have an expander with braces at the same time? Did this happen to anyone else? Thanks for the help in advance.

Answer
My friend did too!
Her mum had to wind it for her i think it was every morning.
she started with top braces.
then got top and expander.
the expander did its work so quickly thagt she didnt have it for long at all and it worked really well! - she has a big gap between the front two teeth for a day while it was shifiting it around, but the next day it had fixed itself - so cute!
she got the expander off now bottom braces.
(her teeth were really messed up)
and shees had all this for maybe 6mnths.
her teeth already look great!
good luck!

What are the options of paying for braces?
Okay so I'm 19 years old, I HAVE A JOB that I've been at for two years. I need braces and I've saved a fair amount equaling a down payment, however, I cannot afford the full cost in just one payment as I have other bills to worry about such as my tuition and my vehicle. My budget will allow me to do monthly payments but what is the best option? A loan for the braces? A credit card? Are there any others?

Answer
Many Orthodontist will allow you to make monthly payments. That's what we had to do for my daughters braces to cover what the insurance would not cover. Ask them ... they'll tell you if they can work with you. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

My parents are planing on getting me braces, I'm 13. Only 3 of my teeth is slightly crooked and they are not very noticeable. I have Healthy Family Insurance, is it covered, if its not, how much will it cost?

Answer
Unfortunately, most health insurances do not cover a lot. When i had braces, my insurance only covered ~20% and the rest my parents had to pay. I guess the reason for that is because it's considered cosmetic...meaning, since it's used to improve ones appearance, it is not necessary. My braces cost ~$8,000. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

I am 19 and considering getting braces (for a second time! because my top teeth shifted some). I believe I am still under my parents health insurance, but there is a possibility i won't be covered because i already had them once and am over 18.. besides that fact, how much should I expect them to cost? i may have to take out a loan and i am wondering if i will be able to afford it? Also, does anyone know if clear braces or if there are any other options so people don't notice as much, more expensive and how much.

Answer
In the neighborhood of 5000 with both arches but since you already had them- you might check with your old orthodontist. possibly, he may have alternate ideas for your treatment such as a retainer.

3. rinse with mouth wash

Teeth with Braces: What are some ways to keep teeth white with braces?

What are some ways to keep teeth white with braces?
I've been told your teeth go yellow with braces,
and there ways to keep them white?

Answer
Unfortunately, your teeth will be a little stained just from having braces. But this can be easily remedied after they are taken off. While you have them on, brush as you normally would and then go in between each bracket with a small cone shaped brush. Also, swish with mouthwash to kill any germs that you can't get to because of the brackets. I hope that I helped. ^_^

Related Answer
When You get them on your ortho usally shows you how to brush
but if they didnt it's pretty similar to how you usally would brush!
Just go in cirles over each tooth, get the back, behind teeth, over brackets, and under wires. To get under wires you need to angle your brush first up, and brush in circles over all your teeth, then down and brush in cirles. Your bristles on your toothbrush should be under your wires. This will take a little longer than you are used to, but after a while you are used to it! (source: Yahoo! Answers)

About Braces: What color for metal braces is least noticeable?

What color for metal braces is least noticeable?
I'm 13 and getting my first braces tomorrow and I wanted to know which Color of braces is least noticeable? Also do White or clear braces stain? And do clear brakets(for metal braces)cost more?

Answer

what u should do is get teal colored ones because there least noticeable and are least expensive.

Related Answer
I get my braces off next week so I have had pretty much all the colors. I have silver on now and I would say they are probably the least noticeable although I personally liked black the best. People are going to notice you have braces though, so don't worry about the colors. You'll look fine either way. My favorite colors were teal, light blue, and black but it's all up to you. Good luck!

As for the white/clear braces..they don't necessarily "stain" as they lose color. I personally would stick to the regular metal braces just because almost everyone gets them and they are still noticeable either way. The metal braces are also sturdier and tend to break less easily, but that's also up to you. I'm not sure on the cost difference though. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Cost Modbury: I'm thinking about getting white ceramic braces. Should i do it?

I'm thinking about getting white ceramic braces... should i do it?
I've been told that i need braces from my doctor, but i really don't want visible ones. i know i can get white or ceramic braces from the orthodontist...but at a cost.

Can anyone who has white braces help me to figure out if its worth it or not?

Answer
i have ceramic braces on both my top and bottom teeth and i think it was worth it . it was $500 extra to get them . i can't see them when i take pictures . everyone says they turn yellow after a while but only if you don't brush your teeth as often as you should . i got mine in november and my braces look as white as the day i got them . i brush after every meal ( except when i eat at school ) and floss at night and my ortho. says they won't turn yellow if i continue this . or if you decide not to get ceramic braces, you can try invislign . it's like invisible braces but you have to change the trays you put in your mouth ( approximately ) every 2 weeks but you can take the trays out when you eat and brush you teeth . i think ceramic braces would be easier because you might forget to put the trays back in or even lose the trays if you had invisalign . good luck :)

Related Answer
I've got both ceramic and metal - ceramic on top and metal on the bottom - I'm really happy with the ceramic, they're barely noticible (one person only just noticed I had them, three months later)! The only thing with them is you have to clean them a lot more than the metal ones, but this is a really small price to pay for such a big difference! the cost difference for me was negligible (about $200) so there wasn't too much of an incentive to not get them.

In photos it just looks like I have a retainer on, and you can't see the metal lowers at all, so that's not a problem.

Re: invisalign, I looked into this extensively and am so glad I chose to go with traditional braces. Invisalign would have cost twice as much and taken twice as long. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Ameriplan has a Dental Plus discount plan that covers orthodontics and most other dental procedures. You can find out more about the plans Ameriplan offers at www.mybenefitsplus.com/cheims. Not only can you find out about the plan itself, if you click on "locate a provider", you can type in your address and find local providers. Many of the dental providers have a fee schedule in the far right box of the table. Benefits begin immediately and there is no health screening. I hope that this helps you.

It depends who you go to, and if they take your insurance. i went to someone who didn't take any insurance and after surgeries and everything (i had a VERY messed up mouth, extra permanent teeth as a baby, and my mouth was too small even for the teeth i was supposed to have) it probably cost over 10,000$. then again, i had over 3 oral surgeries without insurance (since the doctors i went to did not take the kind my mom's work provided). and I'm still not done, i need a bridge for a tooth that had it's roots damaged in the process (because of the extra teeth)
I think for normal cases its in the 2,000-4,000$ zone. i say ask your dentist to refer you to a few, and get some estimates in your area.

I don't think 30 is too 'old' to get your teeth fixed, you are in your prime! also, depending on your job, it might provide an advantage in looking more professional. whitening could help with this too. i suggest asking your dentist about this too, they can give you professional options that work better and last longer than an over the counter product!

You have an awesome bone structure by the way!
Good Luck!!

Also, options like invisaline are usually more expensive, and might not even be an option depending what your particular mouth needs. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Cost Golden Grove: How long do you have to wear braces for?

How long do you have to wear braces for?
How long do you have to wear braces for? Does age matter. I am 21 btw. And do the white braces cost more than regular metal ones? I want them to be almost invisible.

Answer
Usually 2 years but it depends on your situation. If you''re situation is not as severe, then usually 1 year, almost 2. If its more serious, then 2 years, if not more. Age doesn't really seem to matter as much, it just depends on how your teeth moves and how severe your teeth are. Also, if you don't cooperate with your orthodontist, you may have to wear braces longer.

White braces cost more than regular metal ones cuz they're more invisible and you pay for invisibility cuz it doesn't look like you're wearing braces as much. So if you want the white ones, expect to pay more.

Related Answer
the invisible braces cost more. and the wearing of braces depends on how bad your teeth are the least amount is 1 year, ive known a person who has been wearing them for 5 years. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

I had a removable brace and i hardly wore it during the months i was ment to, now my teeth are better but not perfect. It cost money to do it and now im so so so angry at my self i cant stand it. My teeth are mostly straight apart from the two next to my two front teeth either side are slightly inwards, and the ones next to those stick out. Im so upset that i ruined my chances to have nice teeth and im stuck with ugly ones. Does it matter that much? are teeth important?

Answer
It depends on the dentist. One dentist said I needed braces and another one says I don't.

Perfectly white and straight teeth no but when you can't even smile without seeing a disfigured mess of rotten and crooked teeth that can actually make beautiful people not as attractive I think it's sad. Dentists are pretty much doctors so they get paid a lot to work in your teeth and when they take so king to do surgery .. which is mainly why it is expensive ... It racks your bill up. Plus all of that metal has to be special so it is expensive as well. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Cost Dandenong: Question about orthodontic braces

I have a very important question about orthodontic braces!
How much do orthodontic braces cost and will health insurance contribute to the paying for the braces?

Answer
Orthodontic treatment can range from a couple of thousand dollars up to maybe $8-$10 thousand. This depends on just what kind of orthodontic problem you have, whether you're being treated by a general dentist or orthodontist, where you live, and choice of treatment method.
Orthodontic treatment will almost never be covered by medical insurance. The possible remote exception (and I do mean remote) is if your orthodontic problem is related to some kind of accident. Depending on the insurance laws in your state, orthodontic treatment necessitated by a motor vehicle accident might be covered. But in general, with medical insurance you're out of luck.  (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Cost in Strathfield NSW 2135: Very important question!

Very important question!
I'm getting braces in either october or early next year. I have 4 baby teeth that need to get pulled and descend before I get the braces. I have one on my right top side that is currently loose, one on my upper left side that if that they don't pull the baby tooth, the adult tooth will push into my palate. And I have one on each side on the bottom as well. Does the procedure hurt? And another question: What kinds of foods can I not eat when I get my braces? Please help me.

Answer
I've had braces and plenty of teeth pulled. to tell you the truth it really doesn't hurt at all. when you see the shot and tools they use to take your teeth out it scares you. but braces do hurt especially the first time you get them on. they hurt for about 3 days. you can eat jello, yogurt, noodles basically anything soft. but i did try to eat a cheese burger once. i couldn't even break the bread it hurt so bad. be strong. it pays off. oh and another thing every time you get your braces tightened, eat right away. because your teeth will really hurt after about 1-2 hours and last 1-2 days. good luck i hope i helped.

Related Answer
Getting teeth pulled doesn't hurt because they give you stuff to make you sleep. You don't fall all the way asleep but it seems like a dream. Getting braces on doesn't hurt either because they're just gluing brackets onto your teeth. They'll be a little sore but it's nothing you can't handle. The orthodontist will tell you what you can't eat, but for me they said no really hard stuff like pretzels or corn nuts and no sticky stuff like gum or taffy. I actually popped one of my brackets by eating pretzels. Just be careful and follow the directions they give you and you'll be fine. I actually miss my braces. I haven't had them in 10 years but I always thought I looked better with braces, they make your lips looks bigger. Good luck and no worries. Just remember how beautiful your teeth will be when they come off. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

ADULT BRACES LAUNCESTON, TASMANIA: How important is it to close an open bite?

How important is it to close an open bite?
So how important is it to close my open bite. I am an adult so I'd need braces + surgery. Some dentists seem to think it's really important while others say I have enough contact with my other teeth so it really shouldn't matter. My bite is only open in the very front, meaning my four front teeth don't touch. I have a tongue thrust so I've been told I need to wear a retainer for the rest of my life. Otherwise my bite could reopen.

Answer
I have asked my orthodontist almost the same question. I have the same problem, only i am a teenager and i don't need the surgery. Your open bite may cause your eating abilities to be different from other people. with this open bite, your jaw will hurt when eating and so on.

Related Answer
An open bite (also called "overbite" or "overjet") is very important to fix. When your bottom teeth are behind your top teeth to a severe level, they are constantly looking for a place to securely touch. If this happens, your overbite will start to get increasingly worse and eventually your bottom teeth would hit the roof of your mouth, which has a high chance of causing permanent damage.

ADULT BRACES ULVERSTONE, TASMANIA: Are you an adult over 35 years of age with METAL braces, NOT invisible braces or veneers?

Are you an adult over 35 years of age with METAL braces, NOT invisible braces or veneers?
I'm in the process of improving my entire life. I can't afford veneers, and other expensive dental work, and I don't qualify for invisible braces, so I plan to pay monthly on metal braces in the future when I'm in a better position financially. I know there are adults who wear braces, but I personally have not seen any over the age of 35. How many of you are over 35 with metal braces? How difficult was it to wear them? How long did you wear them based on the condition of your teeth? If I qualified for invisible braces, it wouldn't be an issue, but since metal braces are so obvious and usually for children, I'm a little concerned. What I want is more important than what others think, but I can't help but feel the minute I open my mouth with metal braces people will think "this person is too old for braces". LOL

Answer
I have had several friends over 35 that have had braces. In fact, they were 40, 43, and 45 when they got them. NONE of them got invisible. My good friend (age 43) that has them now. She can well afford invisible (she had to get them because of her bite & if not she could lose her teeth later in life) Also, 2 of her 4 kids currently have braces. I don't even notice them on her anymore! She even goes for the colored bands! In October she is getting orange. None of her friends mind or care. She is very social & has just 'embraced' it all (no pun intended). Another friend (male - age 45) got them- again, he could have easily afforded non-metal, but didn't want to waste the money. He had them on the longest....his teeth look great. My other friend got them at age 40 (and she was single!!!!!)....she actually met her fiance while she had them (an airline pilot)....and they've been happily married for years now....

I had braces when I was younger, but my teeth have shifted (I'm over 35), and I need them again.....when I do, I'm just doing metal...the end result will be the same, no matter the price, so why spend more? Since I'm considering when to get them for me, I seem to be seeing them on more adults - and I'd say I see a LOT Of metal.......Good Luck!

BRACES LAUNCESTON, TAS: Is it really important to floss with braces on?

Is it really important to floss with braces on?
I just got braces at the bottom of my teeth yesterday. I also have 8 spacers in my mouth too.
Yesterday, the pain was so unbearable I thought I might pass out.
I haven't been flossing. Yesterday night I tried to floss but my mouth hurt so much, I didn't even try.
How important is it to floss with braces? I don't think i can do it..it hurts too much.

Answer
It is really important! I didn't think it was when I had braces, but then when I got them off I noticed there was clear goo in my gums (I started flossing after I got them off) that would have been really bad if I hadn't flossed for much longer.

The reason it hurts is because you haven't been flossing so your gums aren't used to the way it feels. But it is really important that you floss, or you could end up with gingivitis or some other gum disease. If you just floss gently and work up to a normal clean, it won't hurt so much.

You should floss every day. If you do, then it will stop hurting.
Hope that helps!

Consider Thieves Mouthwash...
http://www.secretofthieves.com/thieves-mouthwash.cfm
That page includes links to some studies that seem to indicate that an essential oil based mouthwash can be as effective as flossing.

Also, the mouthwash contains clove essential oil which used to be used by dentists to numb the gums...so it might lighten the ache caused by the braces. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

BRACES ULVERSTONE, TAS: Why do dentists make a mold of your teeth before getting braces?

Why do dentists make a mold of your teeth before getting braces? is it important?
Think i need braces and i want to get them. other people think so to and they keep on telling me that. why do dentists make molds of your teeth. is it important? How long does it take for your dentist to say u need braces?

Answer

The dentist makes molds of your teeth to find out exactly what procedure needs to be done and on what teeth. They also take x-rays to see how your jaw may be affected, and to get another look at the way your teeth are placed and how they will move them around in your mouth, and also if any teeth need to be extracted (pulled) All your teeth are numbered and they make molds of your teeth, number them, and place backets, spacers, rubber bands, etc to get the best results, Beautiful teeth!

Related Answer
To be able to have the braces fitted correctly and also to assess progress along the way. And yes, it is very important. An experienced dentist will make the whole thing easy and totally pain free. They will check to make sure they use appropriately sized molds, too, and before the mold is made they might have you gargle with an agent that makes your throat go a little numb to make sure you're comfortable. Good luck. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Answer
Sucking on little ice chips helps a lot. Pop a few tylenol. There's really not much you can do except wait it out and hope they feel better tomorrow.

I HATED my braces, I had them for six years, and I swore to myself that having them wasn't worth it. I got them taken off a few months ago and it seriously paid off, so don't lose hope lol.

Ah, I remember when I had braces. Awful times, but totally worth it in the end!

I remember when my family and I were going on this big trip, of course the day before we leave I get my braces tightened PLUS an added wire PLUS rubber bands (if you don't know what those are, they are bands that you hook onto your brackets and it's for overbites). We went through the entire week on the trip and for EVERY SINGLE STINKIN' DAY my mouth felt like a hammer was knocking on it 24/7. I couldn't enjoy ANY food and I actually cried one day because it hurt SO SO MUCH.

But that was to an extent of way more than just a tightening and such like what you got. It should be gone by tomorrow, don't worry. Maybe take some pain meds for now? (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Forrestville: Loose Adult Tooth Braces?

Loose Adult Tooth Braces?
You can just skip to the bottom for the question if you'd like. ;O

I had my bottom braces put on about two weeks ago, some of my teeth feel loose. I wouldn't be concerned but there is one tooth in particular, a molar that moves just a tad. About four days after the appointment I noticed my tooth was bothering me a little. It doesn't move in all directions and I checked with my orthodontist. He said it's normal to feel loose teeth. He felt the tooth, said it seems normal and then he proceeded to put another wire and tighten it on the molar that I was concerned about.
The tooth moves a tad, enough that you can barely see it moving back and forth. It feels loose, has the light, soft crackling sound to it (if you have any idea what i'm talking about). I can eat with it but it feels a tad strange. I don't recall the area around the tooth being sore, just wiggly.

are there any surefire ways of knowing if a loose adult tooth (molar) will fall out or is on the verge of falling out?

Answer
When you get braces, there's a lot of shifting that occurs from the root of the teeth to the jawbone, depending on the severity of the problems you were having. I had so much done I thought sure I'd lose all my teeth, especially the first month after I had my braces put on. It's very natural and as long as there was no trauma to the tooth like getting hit in the mouth, it should reimplant in it's new location with very little difficulty. Ride it out, it'll get better.

Related Answer
Don't mess with it.. and yes, they get loose. I had the same thing when I wore braces. The tissues need to get firm and tighten up. Your tooth won't fall out. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Did you get teased at school? Were they uncomfortable? I had them and I had to wear this extra attachment at night (I think the Orthodontist called it a night brace). Some days my teeth hurt and sometimes not. They sure are different today! Some are almost invisible.

Answer
I had the complete "metal mouth" experience.
The most painful day was before getting the braces put on. The orthodontist inserted the spacers to make room to insert the braces between the teeth. He Rx'd aspirin for the "minor" pain that I'd experience that night. OH! I don't even think a morphine drip would have helped! I can't stand mouth pain & that night I couldn't sleep b/c every time my jaws closed, it was excruciating.
I had many oral ulcerations during my 6 years of wear. Awkward, bumped kisses meant bleeding.
I still have nightmares about those things.
But my teeth were so straight when finished. It was nice to have a smile I didn't have to hide.
Before braces it looked like I had too many teeth. The DR said I had my dad's horse sized teeth in my mom's tiny jaw. The only good thing that he found was that all of my wisdom teeth were in exact alignment. They would break through w/o any impaction. I never had to have any of them removed. But that's probably what jacked up the way things looked in the front of my mouth. I had the vampire fang look before that became "cool." That's what I was teased about, my "monster mouth." ("Don't upset *E-ma,* she'll suck your blood when your asleep.")

I was so relieved to get that "retainer." I hadn't chewed gum in years. I was on a date and took the gum offered me. I was talking & found it more difficult to speak. That gum was wrapped all over that retainer. Finally, I had to excuse myself & spit the whole appliance w/ gum into a hanky. So that was a few more years away from gum.

Dreadful times, but alas, worth it in the end.

Adult Braces Sutherland Shire: Ortho needs to extract wisdom tooth for adult braces and i dont know?

Ortho needs to extract wisdom tooth for adult braces and i dont know?
Well, i've like partial braces on my top teeth and my teeth are not moving at all so the orthodontist told me i've to get one tooth extracted,he told me he would rather remove the one next to the wisdom tooth because it will be much easier for him to move the teeth after, and i was thinking i would rather extract the wisdom tooth because it's useless to me,but i just read how it is realy painful and have some risks to extract the wisdom tooth, and can cause permanent headache,is that true?

Answer
It seems pretty unusual to want to remove the 2nd molar rather than the wisdom tooth (3rd molar), but I'm sure your orthodontist has his reasons. As for wisdom tooth extractions causing a "permanent headache", I've only heard of that happening due to the bills!!
When you see the oral surgeon for an extraction consultation you might be able to get better answers. BTW, if your Ortho says he can do the extraction himself, please ask for a referral to a specialist! (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Sutherland: Are braces the only solution to an adult tooth which is too crowded to come down?

Are braces the only solution to an adult tooth which is too crowded to come down?
I have completely straight teeth and all adult teeth but the tooth is stuck up against another. I don't think i need braces for one crowded tooth.

Answer
If you like the way your teeth look now you can see an oral surgeon and possibly have the impacted tooth removed. If the impacted tooth is currently not causing damage there is the possibility of just keeping an eye on it at dental appointments and messing with it later if needed.
Sadly though, the longer you wait the harder they are to remove. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Orthodontist Cronulla: How come my orthodontist only tightened one tooth this time?

How come my orthodontist only tightened one tooth this time?
So this was my second time getting my braces tightened. But this time the orthodontist had just tightened one tooth. I asked her if she was done and she said yes. Then the main orthodontist, the guy who the building is named after, took a thorough look and said everything was fine. So they know what they're doing, right? I just wonder why only one tooth was tightened.

Answer
maybe that one tooth was out of place and before they could do anything else to your braces they needed that tooth to be in the right place. they do know what their doing. i promise. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Yeah, he does wear invisalign. There's an interview of him, and the interviewer asked him 'What's one thing that's really hard getting use to' or something similar to that, and Justin said, it was his invisalign, and how uncomfortable it was, there's also another video of him doing a Ustream, and he took out his invisalign to show his fans.

How Much Braces Cost Eastern Suburbs: Roughly how much do braces cost?

Roughly how much do braces cost? I have horrid gaps in my top teeth!
I have slight gaps in my teeth that makes me not smile much, I am 33 is it worth paying thousands for this doing? I am a single parent with not much income but hate my teeth. Thanks

Answer
Braces can cost anything between £1000-£5000 if you go private, it's best to phone up & ask or look at their website for the exact price. You'll probably get it cheaper if you go to a NHS dentist though.

Also if the problem is just a gap in your teeth have you thought about having veneers instead? They'll probably cost you around £250 per veneer, maybe a little more but the price difference between braces & veneers is quite big.

I have a large genetic gap between my two front teeth. Would using the Invisalign help or should I get braces?
My mom and 2 of my sisters had a large gap between their two front teeth and I have had the biggest out of us all. I saw the commercials for Invisalign and I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and could give me some advice or if they knew if this could work for me. If not, would braces help?? I am 14 and I do not want braces in my future pictures, but I want to be able to smile and actually SHOW my teeth. Can anyone help?

Answer
The invisalign might not be able to create enough force to close the gap, but you'd have to talk to an orthodontist to make sure. It also depends on the source of your gap. If the muscle attachment in between your teeth and lip is too short, it could be the cause of the gap. In that case, you would need a minor surgery first before getting braces.

Invisalign may help push your teeth closer together, probably just as effectively as braces but without the annoyance of real braces. talk to your mom, make an appointment with an orthodontist (many offer free or cheap consultations) and see what your best options are. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

If I do need braces how long do I have to wait until I get braces?
What do they do and say?
What should I do to prepare for braces?

Answer
Your first exam will be just like the regular dentist. They start by looking and taking x-rayss. Your doctor should be walking you through each step. If there is anything you don't understand be sure to ask. Being a little nervous is completely normal.

The timing depends on what you need done, there is lots of waiting bring you ipod. One of the first steps is your mold- they take a plaster mold of your teeth, its a very odd feeling but doesn't hurt or taste bad. I had an overbite so they started with an expander (a bar that sits behind my lower teeth) for several months. That was put on within a month or so of my first appointment.

Whenever they're going to be actually working, putting them on, adjusting or tightening, take something for pain before you go. Your mouth will get very achy, not only from the work they're doing but also from sitting still with your mouth open for so long. Again I recommend bringing music or something to play with or read. Theres a lot of sitting and waiting.

I have to admit they were totally worth it.

Related Answer
you have your molds, wax, x-rays and photo's done which are then sent off to see if you're eligible for them
then if you are they'll come up with a treatment plan
then actually getting your braces could take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months depending on your ortho. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Braces Cost Knox City: Can they fix a gap in my front teeth without braces?

Can they fix a gap in my front teeth without braces?
I had braces for almost four years. they have been off for almost five years now. however, i have started to get a gap in my front teeth. my retainer broke a couple years ago. it isn't big, but still bothers me. I do not want braces back on!

Answer
Easiest way is for them to make you a new retainer to help close that gap slightly/prevent it from getting better. They can place veneers over the front two teeth, they place these by grinding the enamel down slightly and then cementing these porcelain facings on the front they just make them a little wider to fill the gap. The bad thing is this would be permanent and you would never be able to go without veneers or crowns on these teeth. They could also bond some filling material into the gap which would still involve possibly some permanent grinding, ust less. Your best bet is a new retainer to wear at night to close the gap.

Related Answer
they could put veneers on, which is kind of like a crown. The downside is that you lose some of your natural tooth, which is not good, and your teeth will probably continue to shift over time. I believe, if the movement is minimal, they could fit you with a new retainer that may correct the movement, but I cannot say for sure without actually seeing your teeth. call your dentist and ask......good luck. Invisalign Braces Geelong: Would it cause problems for me to get my tongue pierced before getting my invisalign teeth straightening plate?

Would it cause problems for me to get my tongue pierced before getting my invisalign teeth straightening plate?
Hey guys,I really want to get my tongue pierced and think it would look really good. But i might be getting an invisalign plate to straighten my teeth. I have heard that tongue piercings can damage your teeth but i am not sure if i believe it. I just want to know if you think it will be ok if i get it before that. Because there is no metal in my mouth or wait until afterwards?

Answer
I have a few piercings myself. Now I do not know what that plate is so I cannot tell you there, but I myself have a small mouth and have my tongue done and it does not effect anything. I was suppose to get braces and your tongue doesn't get in the way when the dentist works so why would it then to.

However it has to be 110% healed BEFORE you go get that done so keep that in mind.

No the piercing itself does not mess with your teeth, but certain jewelry can. Some places make square or other odd shaped jewelry that are not the ball, those can damage your teeth. Make sure to stay with the ball jewelry and you will have no teeth damage, and it doesn't matter if the ball is metal or plastic. If you dork around with your metal ball well ya it can do damage but than again anything can do damage if you dork around. Some people do prefer plastic because if they accidentally bite it or something, the ball just breaks, but I preferably hate that and I wear metal and you rarely bite the jewelry, as long as you take care of it and wear the ball you'll be ok.

Like I said make sure you have at least 2 months of definite it's healed time before you get that done, if you still are unsure call and ask your local piercer. i really don't think it should cause any problems since mine doesn't but asking never hurt!

Related Answer

Tongue piercings can damage your teeth if your using metal balls and you drag the balls across your teeth. If you don't, there shouldn't be any damage.

I'd recommend you wait until after you get the invisaligns because the tongue will swell a lot during the healing period and may get in the way of the dentist. After you have the plate in, you should be fine. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Invisalign or Braces: Which will work better with teeth that are already slightly loose?
I have three teeth in the front that have moderate mobility/ are a bit loose. I know that during orthodontic treatment the teeth are moved around, but, which treatment to straighten teeth will be less likely to irreparably damage (ie I lose my three previously loose adult teeth) my moving teeth: Invisalign or Braces? Thank you for your time!

Answer

Hmm that is a really good question! I would assume braces because every 2 weeks you have to put a new Invisalign tray in and for the first few days of each new tray you have to pull quite hard to get them off (when I first removed my Invisalign I felt like I was going ot break a tooth!) Invisalign suctions to your teeth and with attachments on you have to really pull to get them off your teeth. When I first got my Invisalign it took me over 45 minutes to remove the top and then another half hour to take out the bottom. IT is not as simple as putting mild pressure to take them off. Dentist Livingstone: What are the pains and troubles of having braces on your teeth?

What are the pains and troubles of having braces on your teeth?
My dentist told me I should consider braces. My teeth aren't bad so it would only be on for a year. But I would like to know what it's like. And is it possible to do one side at a time? Bottom first then second after? Or do u have to have both on. My upper teeth at good. But bottom are squished a little.

Answer
I haven't had braces myself, but most of my friends have so I reckon I can give you a pretty reliable picture.
You'd have to ask your orthodontist, but I'm pretty sure that you can get the bottom done first, and the top after. If you don't need braces on top, I don't think you have to get them on. One of my friends had very squished up teeth on the bottom. She got a couple removed, then on went the bottom braces. A week or two later, she got the top ones put on.
Supposedly, it's hard work. You have to brush with more than one sort of toothbrush, to get in and out of the wires to keep them clean, so they don't rust. You can't eat things like apples, which you have to bite into, because it risks breaking the braces. Too many soft drinks aren't good either, because the bubbles erode the metal. The braces often cause cuts on your mouth, which are really painful. If a wire breaks, you have to get to the orthodontist asap, and it causes more cuts. When they're tightened, the pressure causes your mouth to hurt as well, and when you first get them on, it's hard to eat anything. It gets better, and soon you're used to them.
They're a big hassle, but if it's only for a year, I'm sure you can handle it. You can get different colours, too! When they come off, people tell me it feels really weird. You used to have something there, and suddenly it's gone! Your teeth feel all smooth and slimy, but are straight!
Good luck, hope this helped!

Well, I've had braces for 3 years. It sucks for the first two weeks. Badly. It hurts like crazy. You can't eat anything. And to top it all of your orthodontist is telling you you can't eat hard candy and popcorn and pizza crust and doritos anymore. Well, let me tell you, as soon as your out of pain again, you can eat those things as long as your careful. I do it all the time. Everyone does. Then you just get used to it. The pains and troubles are really only the first two weeks and once you've survived those, you're good. Hope that helped. (source: Yahoo! Answers)

Dentist Perth: What color of rubber bands for braces make teeth look lighter?

What color of rubber bands for braces make teeth look lighter?
Im getting braces (silver) and i don't want my teeth looking dark and grey! What color will make braces look lighter?

Answer
Definitely a pretty pink. it takes the focus offthe colorof your teeth.

Related Answer
well if you want it to look brighter and more white, usually you would get darker colors I would assume. After all, the contrast of darker colors will automatically make your teeth appear to be much lighter than they are.

However, if you're looking so that you can't really see the braces, you could get clear. I wouldn't reccommend them though. Friends have told me that if you drink red kool-aid and other dyed food products, your rubber bands with change color.
Go with the darker or brighter colors. You should be okay. And here's my tip to you, actually EAT GOOD AND HEALTHY foods while they're on. I know it's hard. I had mine on for like four years, but I got them off and parts of my teeth are different colors and whitening has helped, but its never the same. So try to eat right, BRUSH YOUR TEETH REALLY WELL, and floss, even if you do have to use that special tool. Do it. If you follow the rules, your teeth will come out amazing! (source: Yahoo! Answers)

That's definitely normal. I could barely do anything that involved my mouth for like, four days after I got my braces on. It was terrible. The pain should go away within a week or so. At least most of it should.

Yeah, it's totally normal. I would suggest taking some medication for that like Tylenol. Usually it's like that between a week and a week in a half. How much do you think braces for teeth cost with insurance?

How much do you think braces for teeth cost with insurance?
It is a big help if you have an insurance to cover the cost for your braces, it will likely reduce the cost in any case.

We all know that the price range is around $2000 to $4000 for a full case of braces, and I’m pretty sure that everyone would like to have a discount if possible.

It is recommended that you consider the insurance plans from the HMO (Health Maintenance Organization, or the PPO (Preferred Provider Organization). Their insurance plan can really do something on the cost especially braces for adults. You even look for companies that cover full dental insurance for braces not just for adults.

Though, there’s a disadvantage when looking for braces insurance plans because most of the companies believe that treatment considered as cosmetic treatment, so most likely, you will find it difficult to find someone who offers such benefits.

On the other hand, you can stay peaceful and relax when you find an insurance company to cover your dental treatment because a big percentage will likely be deducted about 50%. And, there are insurance companies that pay the entire benefit cost at the beginning of the treatment, with other pay during the process of treatment, just make sure that you understand the terms and agreement so that you will be guided accordingly.

Now that you are informed of how much the cost of braces for teeth with insurance plan, you can at least relax a bit, so you don’t need to worry the next time you meet your orthodontist.
